Nowhere in "The Rules" does it say anything about introducing yourself.  The only thing written about introductions is at the very end (Rule #10) which is simply a link to the Introduction Forum Rules (Ron's short rule posting within the Introduction Forum doesn't mention it either, but even if it was mentioned there, that shouldn't be the only place to do so).

Based on the many comments written to people who haven't introduced themselves, this seems to be a very important rule.  If introducing yourself is so important, shouldn't this be clearly stated within "The Rules" (ideally near the beginning)?

Bushido does have a good point but I don't think you should make it a rule that people need to introduce themselves. Just strongly suggest it within the rules. I mean people shouldn't be breaking a rule because they post, say a thank you for a link, before introducing themselves. Except that wouldn't happen cuz noobs can't see the links...Hmmmm

Rule 5.1 threw me for a loop, it says links cannot be posted anywhere except the subforum, but it didn't say what kind of links weren't aloud everywhere else. Phara said the rule says video links are not aloud, but all other links were in the other subforums. There should be some kind of distinction between good links and bad links, imho.

Of course you can link to a web page... just not links to movies or tv shows.  Music links like concerts are allowed... Sports links are allowed...

Warez links for sports isn't allowed. Link hunting sports (ie. veoh links, etc) is fine, but warez and the such are a no go.

Your sports links are fine if they're tagged appropriately and moved. If you want to put them all together in a mega thread and have me sticky it, that's fine too... but they're not supposed to be on the public boards... PiraCee will look more closely at this issue later.

I would like to ask that the rule of 20 posts should go in the etiquette section. I stopped reading the explicit section because it all seemed like, don't be an ass and you will be fine stuff. The 20 posts is a sort of paying of dues and gesture of respect. One earns the right to post on serious issues. Since etiquette is less predictable and more subjective I read that all the way through thinking id be safe. That logic failed me however. Thank you for not banning me because of my mistake but looking out for fellow noobs here it might be good for everyone if you put it near the top of etiquette. It might save the mods some time. By the way your mods have been great and quite understanding despite my noobishness.

Actually, in retrospect, what really needs clarification is the first post in this thread. "Please use this thread to discuss The Rules." This could mean two things and honestly even if there is some grammatical reason it is one way or the other, it should be clarified anyway. Usually when you follow " use this thread" and give a link you are referring to the link. Yet the rules is the direct object of the sentence and makes sense even if the link part was not actually a link. Unlike "use this thread to discuss the rules,(link "the rules discussion thread").  That link doesn't complete the sentence well so then the this refers to the link. Maybe say, "use the following thread," if you want it under The Rules. Or say, use this thread...not..The Rules(link)...for discussion of the rules themselves. Knowing me, I am probably the only person who has ever been confused by this. So if that's the case I am sorry.

is not the same as

The first means use the linked-thread to discuss the object of the sentence; the latter means use this thread to discuss the linked-thread.

O I see. This is about the only forum I have ever visited so I haven't really encountered the first version. As I said earlier, for more experienced users I am sure it was a non issue. I am curious to see your response to the post before my last.

I'm not quite sure what you're referencing... the 20 post thing is CnD specific so it wouldn't really be a general Etiquette issue. That being said... if people want to post on the rules, they can search. or read the rules which have a link to this thread.
