Guide: What to do with 001, 002, 003...etc, files?

When downloading films, episodes, or other video off Rapidshare (or other similar file hosting sites), you will usually have been given numeroud URL's, and have to download the content in several parts.

This is because these websites give a maximum upload of approximately 100MB. Therefore, the uploader has to "split" the file/s up into portions of 100mb or less, and upload them as separate files.

The most common way of doing this is with winRAR, and once you have downloaded all the files, its really simple to extract them all....just extract the first one as usual, and then winRAR does all the hard work for you :P

However. If your downloading a DVDRip, or something really large, then sometimes uploaders just split the file into 001, 002, 003 files etc. This saves time, as this method can be quicker, albeit more inconvenient for the downloader.

Anyways! I was stumped when this happened to me for the first time, and thought it was just a dodgy download. So ill explain what to do. Although you guys probably arent as stupid as i was and wont need this! Tehe.

So, you have your files:

What you then need is a program called HJsplit. Its FREE, and not only can it be used to join the files together, you can also use it to split files up yourself if you ever need to.

Get it from HERE.

Extract it, then go to the folder you extracted it to (oh yes, no installation reguired), and just double click the HJsplit.exe to start.

You'll see this:

Click on "Join" and then youll be shown this screen:

Click on "Input file", and then the following explorer window will pop up:
(do what the red writing says)

Then click start and...

This method of splitting files isnt used very often, but now you know what to do when u get it ;-)
